I am my father's only child. He gave everything to me in his will. My half brother hasnt spoken to me since our mother died 6 years ago. He and his family came for our mother's funeral and took everything that wasn't nailed down... and some things that WERE actually nailed down. He and his family HATED my father.

Am I legally obligated to tell him my father died? He is NO relation, he was NOT named in the will at all.

No, you do not need to inform ur brother. It was not his father. Not even an interested party.

No, you do not have to legally let these people know your father has died. If you are left everything and you are the executor of the will you have to notify ONLY beneficiaries of the will. As you are the only beneficiary you have no duty of notification whatsoever.

No. Non family does not need to be notified.

No - if he is not related to your father. That door was closed when your mother passed and he was related to her. Your half sibling is out of the picture unless you contact him after 6 years. I see no obligation to do so in my opinion.
