I'm 61 years old. Since 2005, I've had five (5) spinal fusions. The last one in January 2017. Unfortunately, they have all been failures. Now I suffer from chronic pain due to "painful hardware syndrome." I've been taking oral pain medications for 14+ years. I've been taking oxycontin 80mg tablets 3 times a day for over 10 years. And oxycodone 30mg tablets 2 every 4 hours for breakthrough pain as well. Every since I moved to the state of Minnesota, every pain center I go to (two so far), immediately tell me " you need a pain pump, apparently the oral pain medications are not working." I feel this is absolute nonsense! Who would actually believe I would take oral pain medication for 14+ years if they didn't work for me! Upon research, 14 people have died from accidental overdoses. You can't bend over too much, you can't reach over your head too much, and you can't sit down but for so long. I personally could not live my life like this. It would just spiral out of control! I would be in and out of psychiatric hospitals to no end! And on tons of psych drugs! I would be constantly walking the streets at night, afraid of sleeping. Not knowing if I'm going to be alive the next morning! My mind would deteriorate at a very rapid pace. I don't want to start living my life this way. Whatever happened to medication management? I personally believe, because of this huge social movement vilifying pain medications as being evil, and the drug manufacturers. This is total nonsense! As a patient, do I have any say so involving such concerns? Also, are there any legal concerns as well. And by the way, I'm now on oxycontin 30mg tablets 3 times a day. And 15mg tablets of oxycodone 2 tablets every four (4) hours. I now feel my pain is being under treated. I truly truly need good solid advice. Please help me if you can. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. Albert
