I'm 66 years young and Diabetic. I do take a number of medicines for my diabetes, but I have also noticed that the memory is very forgetful at times is this cause I'm 66 or the meds. I know you don't know what I take but I find being 66 is kind of young to be so forgetful?

Yes, it is possible that it is simply a reaction to medicine or it could be a degenerative condition. There's no way to know without testing. I'd talk to your doc and tell him your concerns. Have him do a full work up and refer you to a doctor that specializes in this area.

You may or may not want to know the answer. But answers are always better than questions and doubts, particularly if there's something that can be done. Even if this is a degenerative condition heading towards dementia, there are often ways that they can help increase brain function and delay the onset of Alzheimer's and dementia.

And you might just find that it is something minor that can be corrected. How great would that be?!

I have a friend that has to have B12 shots because her body doesn't process the vitamin B. She can always tell when she needs one, because she can't remember diddly squat. Hopefully because of the diabetes your doctor is doing blood work on a regular basis. Make sure all your levels are staying up. That's my only suggestion. Sorry.
