My Mom has dementia and issues remembering where she puts the TV monitor. I have had three technicians to explain to her how to use the monitor, but to no avail...she forgets, miss-locates, or takes it apart. So I decided to hopefully end all the ongoing drama and being worn out, and purchased a WOW pc. It has a trial period, so you can return if you don't like it. It's a pc that is supposed to be compatible with the elderly and at the push of a button allows you to use it with much ease. Has anyone tried to use this on their parent(s); was it well received and enjoyable; and how did you ease it on your parents especially if they are so addicted to TV, that it may cause more friction than peace in the family?
If your Mom suffers from Dementia, I doubt if you will be able to teach her how to use something new. Three techs tried to teach her to use a remote? My Mom forgot how to use a remote and a cordless phone in the early stages. I think you may be expecting too much of Mom.
One of the first things to go, besides short term memory is the ability to reason, process and comprehend. You are going to be showing her how to use the PC every time she uses it. She can no longer retain new information.
When my Mom moved in, she never saw the remote. I changed channels for her. She enjoyed those channels with old TV shows on them. No news or violent shows with bombings and fires.
