My mother is only 70 but is experiencing either moderate dementia or early onset Alzheimer's. Unfortunately, we have never had much of a relationship. She has a mild mental disorder and my grandparents raised me so communication between us is poor. She is living in what I would consider substandard conditions. She has two dogs that aren't housebroken and her house smells absolutely atrocious. She adores these animals and is still moderately coherent but am concerned about her living conditions. She is also a very difficult person and would be enraged by any kind of intervention or criticism. Any input or advice is appreciated.
