Find Care & Housing
When a person starts having memory problems, this can create a whole new set of challenges. One is using the bathroom. The person sees a sea of white facilities and can forget which is the toilet. I had read where changing the toilet seat cover to a bright color could help. It's worth trying.

If it's someone you know who has dementia, do understand that this is typical behavior for some dementia patients. Some of them take it out of the toilet and hide it; some carry it around; some smear it in places you wouldn't expect. As a veteran of this behavior in my LO, I can say that it threw me for a loop!

I'd like to reassure you that it only happens once or twice, but there's a whole phase revolving around it. Be aware that feces is considered a biohazard. Handle and dispose of body waste carefully. Also be aware that there is no training that will stop them once they start it. Their brains are broken, and I suspect that they have no idea what has come out of their body or what they're supposed to do with it.

So, what's your question??

What's your question Phil? If your loved one is having issues in the bathroom it's obvious that you're going to have to assist them in the bathroom every time to avoid such incidences.

Your really need to give us more information about the person. Male or female and age. What health problems do they have. Do you live with them or them with you? Is Dementia or ALZ Involved.

I so hope the person is now wearing Depends. You may have to now go to the bathroom with them.
