I believe we have tried every antibiotic and a medicine to also change the acidity (?) in her urine that should have lessened or stopped the UTIs. She's great otherwise after her stroke. I have read after a massive stroke, UTIs are typical, but will this ultimately be what takes her?

We just tried Cipro and mom had an anxiety attack the fifth day of treatment. A little scary since she takes Meds for A-Fib which caused her stroke.
I mentioned the wiping to the RAs at her assisted living so we removed her wipes so she won't forget and wipe herself while waiting on them to assist her from the bathroom, and I explained to her why. She just wanted to make it clear she could and I assured her we know, just knocking out every possibility.
Thing is, she had the UTI, before she started wiping herself. I am co deemed it may have come on after the catheter when she had the stroke 18 months ago.
We go to the Urologist again Thursday and he may try a sulfer drug. I'm not sure we have tried those. Fingers crossed!!

Mom has done Cipro after e.Coli was found. She had great success but they won't give it to her for UTI's anymore because she has developed an allergy to one of it's sister drugs so they won't take that chance.

Cure? Nothing, e coli is always present in the digestive system. BUT she is now wiping in the wrong direction and dragging the e coli to the front.
So get her a faucet bidet and some baby butt wipes.
