She gets dry mouth. She won't use the dry mouth sprays. We have used bed side cups with lids and straws jutting out like they use in hospitals. She falls asleep before putting them back on the night stand and they seep water all over her and the bed. I have tried numerous brands of baby sippy cups but they require a stiff sucking motion. I have tried other "carry/travel" models but they all seem to have some sort of mechanism that requires opening and closing which she can not do with her arthritic fingers -- and besides, she falls back asleep forgetting to close the mechanism. Today, I tried a "Sassy" brand cup with a different type of top but again it required a sucking motion which she can not accomplish. Currently, I am trying a "Contigo" brand cup with a push button on the side that releases the cover on a small opening. She does not have to suck on it, but she has trouble wrapping her hand around the bottle and pushing the button with her 3 fingers.

I am really liking this thread, another necessary, but light-hearted thread.
However, this just in: Do not carry the cup in your purse! Did not just leak-it somehow emptied 3/4 cup water inside purse. I could have done something wrong-after just washing it? Anyhow, just happy to have my night water safe.
This is because you are not supposed to chew on the rim, but instead of sucking, a gentle chewing motion, or lips moving can release the water.
This concludes my review of the cup, I give it five stars-get your own! Lol.

Ok, I don't NEED a sippy cup, but scooting over, reaching the nightstand became painful after breaking my collarbone last year-my upper arm is very painful.
Ths cup solves my preference to have my water covered.
I handed the cup to my hubby-he drinks without putting his mouth on anything-he pours it into his mouth-so this was funny to watch-it does not pour, or leak!
Also, I don't know if any of you have considered buying "My pillow" that they advertise on tv & radio. I looked into it, but they want $99.00 for them. The dept store had them also for $59.99!
I got the 10 oz. but someone with dementia and arthritis can use the handled mug.
The best thing is one can drink while lying down, without choking.
It works, and I love it!
All hospitals should usexthis for patients to drink.
Don't nobody laugh! You don't know how many times I have fallen asleep while trying to drink more water, leaving the cap off my bottled water. It's true!
And, I have Phoenix to thank! So, thank you for making my life that much easier.
Hubby thanks you too-we were so tired of trying to save the mattress from water!
