Why does ur Mom need a counselor? My Mom goes to a neurologist for her Dementia. Not sure how a counselor will help. Medicaid should be able to tell u what Drs will except medicaid.

Ask for her priest / minister/rabbi to visit her.

I have heard of geriatric psychiatrists. They may help with medications.
However, you are asking for a counselor. Social workers can counsel her family and perhaps the patient. There is very little "therapy" for anyone on Medicaid with the healthcare the way it is.
Talk therapy would be contraindicated in a patient with dementia, especially if she is so ill as to have delusions or hallucinations. Are you sure of what it is you need for her?

Reasoning an issue. Also, it is not beneficial to entertain a delusion. Also, rehearsing problem may agitate/upset patient, distraction works. Counselors do not do that, but the caregivers can. I am thinking you wanted something else to help your mother?

Wow, I missed the words "long-term", and thought I was reading carefully.
We would like to know if there is such a thing.

Well I actually don't think there IS such a thing as "long term Medicaid." There is only Medicaid. It is a welfare program for the most destitute US citizens, provided mostly by the Federal Gov't but individually managed by each state.
