My MIL has been complaining a lot lately of her bowels falling out between her legs. We spoke to the NH and they sent her to a urologist and a gynecologist. They did not find anything wrong. Mil told us the pushed everything back inside of her and sewed her up with stitches - lol. But they next day she was calling again saying her bladder was falling out again. I'm wondering if this might be the Alzheimer's progressing to the point where she is beginning to not recognize the signals of having to empty her bladder?

Dear Sorrynotsorry,

It is worrying when your MIL starts talking like this. It could be the progression of the disease. Is she already using Depends like products, this might giver her a sense of security. It was tough to see my dad get to this stage. But it was a life saver since it was a backup. I found the Mens Depends products looked more like underwear and my dad was able to pull them up himself.

I can attest to the fact that people who suffer from dementia can come up with some wild and unbelievable stories about what is happening. My mother was convinced strange men were coming through secret passages in her wall and "they" were installing spy cameras in her cold air return. She was an actress and she recognized me as her co-star in a few movies she'd done. I could go on and on. The Depends idea is a great one. So is having her evaluated by the NH psychiatrist.

Yes she sees the psych on the 25 th. She needs something to calm her nerves. She hasn't had accidents yet but am thinking that she eventually will be as the alz continues . I was just thinking the pressure she feels when she needs to pee might be starting to be interpreted as something else currently. She is pretty far into it already. She is progressing more rapidly of late.
