I'd discuss it with his doctor, but, I would explore Hospice. Is he on oxygen? They have been a tremendous help with my LO, although, I'm not sure how it works when the patient lives in their own home. My LO is in MC. They have gotten her anything she needed and fast. The nurse comes and checks her out every week. A person comes to bath and change her almost every day. They ensure that she is not in any pain. The social worker has been awesome and is there to help me get anything that I need. Her counseling has been awesome.
As I understand it, you can request an evaluation for hospice at any time. If it isn't yet the right kind of care for your loved one, they will say so.
Hospice is all about making terminally ill people's lives as comfortable and fulfilled as possible, you know. It's not death row. I hope you won't hesitate to get in touch with your providers and ask their advice.
I guess I don't want to accept this. Also, I feel if I suggest hospice, he will quit fighting and go down hill. He is still able to go to town if I drive and drop him off at door, then he rides one of those electric carts. He has a hard time eating, most of the time he stands or bends over to eat, which is hard in a restraunt. He wants to get out and go for rides, town etc. He likes to buy those scratch off tickets. But I'm getting burned out. I work from 9 - 3 and go straight to his house and get home around 8:30 - 9. I feel bad if I tell him I don't want to take him to town because he is by himself all the time. There is no one to help me. I know he won't go with a stranger.
