The other day I noticed my great grandma had a little amount of water in her cup and she said that know one had filled it up for a while. I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with dehydration in nursing home?

We had this problem with my Mum as she has Alzheimer's and cannot feed herself. we always feed her main meals but all other times during the day no one was giving her drinks. It's fixed now - the staff have a list of residents who need to be given drinks regularly and have added Mum to the list. Maybe your aged care centre has such a list?

Ask the Head Nurse if GG is being checked for dehydration. Learn how to check for it yourself, by gently pinching up the skin on the back of the hand.
Also, if GG tends to get fluid on the lungs, there may be an order limiting fluid intake, with or without diuretics. Glad to see you are checking.

Does your grandmother have dementia? Are you the primary person involved in her healthcare?

If grandma has dementia, she might have sipped her freshly poured water 2 mintes before you arrived and forgotten that. Or not. If you are not her primary contact for healthcare, i would talk to that person about hydration, to make sure that they are aware of what grandma is telling you. Most NHs, in my experience, are quite vigilant about keeping patients hydrated.
