I receive an email if I've gotten a hug plus the hug and anything that is written with the hug shows up in my newsfeed. Usually the one who sends the hug will say something like, "Thank you for your comment about __________....". Or sometimes the hugs are random based on what you may have written about. It might have touched someone enough for them to send a hug your way.
