Mother has an HMO that is networked with a hospital she dislikes. She had surgery at that hospital and dislikes their services. However, she likes her doctor. This is a small clinic and only deals with one hospital.

Any ideas? Not sure how to handle this one. I don't want to remove her from her doctor and then regret it.

Please, help.

Thank you so much.

I would get in touch with the admidistration with her concerns and see if they can be addresed since she like her MD which might not be true if she changes medicial groups

I agree, try to get some of the problems she is having with the hospital resolved. Not a good idea to switch doctors if she likes the doctor she has now and he knows all of her medical history, etc. I am having a lot of trouble with mom when we had to move to North Dakota and she does not like her new doctor and I do not think he is very good either, does not do the tests and follow-up that he is supposed to.

That is unfortunate. So sorry to hear about your mom's experience. I am keeping mom's doctors for now. I will not make any changes until I know I have found a better doctor. Changing can be risky.

Personally, I changed my doctors after 20 years. It was the best decision I made.
