Is there a cell phone plan that limits incoming calls to pre-approved phone numbers?

Why would you want to get Mom a cell phone? It causes a lot of problems because they no longer reason or process. My SILs Mom can't understand why she can't keep ordering stuff, that is putting her inbdebt, so SIL took the phone away.

I have an LG android thru Tracfone. I have been using them for years. My daughter one as her only phone. No contracts. You buy as you go. I like that I bought the phone outright and just pay so much at a time for minutes. What would be a plus for you, is if Mom is abusing it, you can deactivate it at no cost or just don't renew the minutes. On my particular phone, I can set it for only those on my contact list ring thru. All others go to VM where I can listen and delete. I think some may have parent controls where u can limit calls out. Tracfone has other manufacturers.

There is also Cellular.

anonymous859184, keep the landline. Those of us growing up with landlines know how to use the phone. Plus the calls are so much clearer than that of a cellphone. No dropped calls. So easy to use, yada, yada, yada.

And the best part, with a landline you don't need to remember to charge the battery, nor lose the phone in a pocket somewhere.

Check with the phone carrier to see if calls can be blocked.

Jitterbug is ok for elderly cell phones. I don't know how well it does for those with dementia
Another option is keeping the landline, like others have stated. The best option I have seen is FotoDialer. It connects into the existing landline phone. When they want to call, they can either use the phone or FotoDialer. The FotoDialer makes calls by the person pressing a button next to the 2" x 3" photo of the person/place they wish to call. There are 24 numbers over six pages (four/page).
Good luck!
