Anyone caring for elderly parent with pancreatic cancer in hospice?

My father is 70 and just agreed to hospice last week. He has stage IV pancreatic cancer. He was just transferred to a skilled nursing facility, after being hospitalized for sepsis, for PT/OT to hopefully gain some strength and stamina in order to come to my home.

126 cher, my mom currently is living extremely well. No major pain, her tumor was in the tail and the radiation reduced the size of it. The one downfall is her posture is bad thus she is in a wheel chair majority of the time. Make sure to keep his primary physician informed.

cocopuff, once a patient enters hospice, PT and OT usually end. Only comfort care is given. Strength and stamina will not return. Time is short. God keep you calm for the journey.

It is not a parent but my husband who has pancreatic cancer. He is NOT in hospice but I do want to follow this question. He is starting not to be able to swallow and I am worried. Onlychild1916? What is your father experiencing now? Thanks in advance.What signs did he have that put him in hospice?

126cher you ever discussed the idea of hospice with his doctor. They have been very helpful

No hospice is involved. Husband functions quite well. Tests done today and tomorrow. Plus 61st chemo treatment tomorrow. (Nov. 1, 2016)
