I live in Germany and cannot come home often. She is losing her license because of vision problems and cannot get around. I have been able to order groceries for delivery. She cannot get to appointments for health care. She needs help and I cannot seem to find the right place to get it in Anaheim, California.

Call the county of elder care services that your mom lives in, there is transportation including wheelchair transport to get your mom to her doctor appointment, I found one her in nc, only charged 2 dollars and 50 cents each way, will keep you in my prayers

Here's a link to a program in Anaheim that may be able to help.

Explain to them your situation and ask them if they can provide a care manager for her. That care manager can set up the services she needs to maintain her independence. That's what you really need. Someone to be our "eyes and ears" and manage all of this while you are away. If that agency can't help you, you ask them who can or you come back on to this forum discussion and we'll head another direction. Thank you for your service to our country!

Great answer from LuAnn! You might also try the family service center on your base in Germany. They should be able to help you with the research as the time difference is likely to be challenging for you. If your mom belongs to a church community in Anaheim, they may also be able to provide a group of people that might be available to assist her.

You might also help her set up something like Signupgenius. This is basically an online forum where her appointments and other needs can be placed so her friends or neighbors can sign up to take care of specific tasks.

Good luck.

Dear Serviceman, I feel your worry and will try to help. Get to a computer and Put in " Certified Geriatric Care Managers in Aniheim California". You should get the name and phone number of one. This person can do an assessment on your mom and determine her needs. From there they will set up whatever services needed, including transportation. HOPR THIS HELPS YOU, GOD BLESS. RB, ret.care manager
