I don't live with my parents, yet. But I am on 24 hour call. I mow and upkeep their yard, spring through fall. I do housekeeping they can't do and I drive them to appts. Because of this I am only able to work part-time and have no health insurance. Oh, and I will be the one to move in & take over full care when that time comes. Which is probably not very far away.

To my knowledge there is no pay for this. I have been a full-time caregiver for my mother for the last 12 years. I am an only child and I have no outside help. If you find a way to be paid, I am sure a lot of us would like to know how. I had to leave my career 10 years ago.

You may consider a contract between you and your parents for pay. An attorney would be a good idea to make sure it is fair to them. If they just pay you without a contract, siblings or other relatives may dispute it later. This is even more important if you move in with them because it would look like you were mooching off them, but the contract could spell out your responsibilities. If my mom moves in with me, I will charge her for rent and board instead. That way I won't have to pay income tax. Many people get very sensitive about this and think relatives should do this for free, but that is often unrealistic for the caregiver.
