Mom was in the hospital from 8/26/13 to 9/4/13 and then was admitted to a nursing home for skilled care. Medicare payments ran out for skilled care last week and she's being moved over to the hospice wing. They are applying for Medicaid today and my sister told me Medicaid could take the house within 60 to 90 days if she gets approved. I just came across an article online that says if a son or daughter (of any age) was living in the house for at least two years immediately prior to the date the recipient was admitted to the nursing home, who has continuously lived in the house since then, and who provided care to the Medicaid recipient prior to his or her entering the nursing home which permitted the recipient to delay entering the nursing home that there would not be any recovery made against the exempt home of the Medicaid recipient. Can they take the house that I am currently living in? We live in Oklahoma.
