Well if the patient is going in to AL or NH on Medicaid, the facility then becomes the caregiver. HCBS payments would stop.

Mopsy, are you thinking of moving your hubby to Assisted Living/Memory Care? If yes, see if you can find a place that will accept not only your hubby but you, too, to share a suite. Hubby would be charged the regular room rate, and you would be charged a small fee as a room-mate.

Some senior facilities have Independent Living where you can purchase higher level of care, and the apartment would be either an one or two bedroom, large living room, and full size kitchen.

You are lucky living in northern Virginia, we have so many senior facilities to choose from. Google "retirement living sourcebook", this book gives the names of all the facilities in the Virginia-Maryland-DC area.
