I was asked to help by my great aunt to help her aunt and uncle with meals, bills, errands, bathing,dr appts etc. and i was told that i would be compensated once things settled....well its been 4yrs one of the clients died and im still taking care of the husband.he broke his hip last christmas and my family and i moved in. Although we consider him family and love him dearly,we have been harrassed by other family and would like to be compensated for the level of care and committment this type of work takes. How do we go about it legally?or is it too late.We have had several verbal agreements in place but no one ever declares responsibility for anything.

This is tough since nothing was written down, but I'm assuming that you've kept some financial records. I'd go to an elder law attorney and ask what the next step would be. Much may depend on the state laws where you live.

Good luck with this.
