Can you access money in a pool trust if you have passed away?

Regarding a pool trust for Medicaid spenddown. We were told that when someone dies with money in the trust you can’t get it. Is this true?

True. I think though, if the money is more than Medicaid is owed, the beneficiaries get what is left. It works that way with a Special Needs trust my nephew has.

Yea it’s true. The money goes to Medicaid. They are the beneficiary of the trust.
