My brother will soon begin caring for our parents in his home. Myself and other siblings live far away and I was hoping a magazine could assist him.

He could contact the Alzheimers' Assn. and ask if he can purchase a DVD of the "Creating Confident Caregivers" course. Although it addresses Alz., the advice offered underlies caregiving in general. The course was excellent; I still have the manuals and refer to them periodically, especially when I'm stumped.

One of the best exercises we learned was caregiver thinking "outside the box." This is a sometimes overused term, but the exercise we did really required us to think creatively, and challenged us to find alternative solutions. That creates a foundation that helps work around or through a lot of challenging caregiving situations.

He might also contact local hospitals, AL and IL facilities, which sometimes have support or outreach groups.

esposla, I haven't seen such a magazine, it would be great if there was one.

Otherwise, your brother could come to this website to ask questions and read all the excellent professionally written articles that are available.... scroll down to the bottom of the page to the blue section.
