I am disabled but my husband still works, however he does all the house work all the shopping, cooking etc; I have chronic breathing problems and cant do much without being out of breath, can he get paid for taking care of me? we don't have medicaid.

Your husband will never make what he makes working to care for you. Medicaid is based on monthly income and assets. Contact Social Services in your County and see what is offered.

Medicaid IHSS is the only program that does this. It is minimum wage and usually less than full time.

As he is working, he wouldn’t qualify. And if he quits you aren’t getting anywhere near what he is making.

You and he could split the marital assets now to ensure that his share won’t have to be spent down before Medicaid takes over your long term care costs. Which sounds way more a severe situation than what you’ve got going on.

Grocery shopping and cooking can all be handled online. Housekeeping help is routinely available on care.com for when the three minute a day vacuums don’t cut it. I wouldn’t count on the government paying your dh so that y’all don’t have to pay them.

Without being on Medicaid the only way your husband can be paid to care for you would be for you to pay him out of your pocket.
And as you know that makes absolutely no sense as I'm guessing your money is already his money too.
As a spouse that cared for my late husband for 24 1/2 years of our 26 year marriage, I never once thought about wanting to be paid to do what any "normal" spouse would do for their loved one, as that is what most of our wedding vows included....in sickness and health, till death do us part.
Your husband is doing what any good husband would do and that is to take care of you because he loves you and not because of any money he's being given to do so, just like you would for him if the tables were reversed.
