Can my aunt be evicted from a care home?

If she is denying u permission to speak to them, leave a written note for her doctor, just leaving a message if they happen to run across this patient. That way they get your info and do not have to confirm or deny they know her. They cannot contact you without her permission but at least will get info

Swe if the ALWPP program is still in effect. California here too and retired case manager. If she has MediCal, there may be a medCall rate for various facilities. ALWPP might have a wait list. Assisted Living ?Placement plan. Also ask about the PACE program. They have whole teams to help. Does she have a geriatrician? Their office should be able to help you coordinate care.

So she does not want them to speak with me she is very secretive. By the time she tells me anything it’s usually to late and I never know if she’s Telling me the truth. I think that she is an undiagnosed schizophrenic. Her moods have always been extreme (that’s why no one in family will speak to her). She is the last one of my moms siblings.

Speak to the county agency for the elderly. They can advise on specifics.

Is this an Assisted Living? Find out if this is true. Then I would call Adult Protection Services. Explain that there is no one that is willing to care for Aunt. They will evaluate and hopefully take over Aunts care. They will find her the help she needs much faster than u can. A judge will assign her a guardian.

I don't think she makes too much in Social Security to get Medicaid. Each State has different criteria. My Mom received $1700 a month and received Medicaid in NJ where the cap was a little more than 2300. But neither she nor you will need to worry about that if you allow the State to take over.

Please don't volunteer or be talked into caring for her. Caring for someone with mental problems is not fun. Do not become her POA either if you already are not one.

First I would call the facility to find out if and why she is being evicted.
Then maybe call the Department of Aging in your area, explain the situation and see if they can help in any way.

Check with the facility. August has come and gone. What's the status of the eviction? She probably has Social Security not SSI, because the amount is too high for SSI. Hasn't the facility helped her get MediCal to pay for her care? Could her behavior be getting her removed? I think the situation may not be as she has said it is. Try not to get sucked in too deep into her drama.
