My mom is 83 and lives in texas. Her only assets are a car and a home. In February she was in a nursing home for nearly 2 months. She relapsed in mid June and is back in another nursing home indefinitely. Does she have limited tIme there? Can they take her home? Can they take her ss? She has 1784 in ss

Call the nursing home today. Request a meeting with someone in social services. Medicare will pay up to 100 days in a nursing home. Day 1-20 Medicare pays 100%. Days 21-100 Medicare pays all but a daily co-payment amount. It doesn't pay beyond 100 days per benefit period. This being you must be home at least 60 consecutive days in order to begin a new benefit period. Talk to them to get this straight. After this she would have to apply for Medicaid. Yes her SS will go to the nursing home, all but a monthly allowance. They can put a lien on her home for unpaid amounts. Get to their office now. You can do this
