As pstegman points out, it depends on the cause. The best approach will be to consult a doctor about the issue. If it is treatable, hooray ... follow the treatment plan. If it is not, learn the best ways to deal with it with dignity.

It depends on the cause. I did experience incontinence prior to having my knee replaced, but after surgery and PT I could walk normally and the incontinence went away, and so did my lower back pain.
