Can I leave a nursing home for non-medical short excursions while on Part A Medicare?

I think the issue might arise why you would need to be in a nursing home if you're able to leave for short excursions that are not medically related.

If you leave the nursing home for personal reasons then insurance may not pay for your care. You are there for skilled nursing care. At least you would need a doctor order but I doubt you can get one. It would be considered against medical advice. Once it happens you may be responsible for the entire bill.

This would be a better one to ask the facility and whoever handles your Medicare.
