connie60, the vast majority of family caregivers do not get paid.... unless the person they were caring for can pay them from their own savings. If your husband can do that, you would need to draw up an employment agreement, this agreement will be important later down the road if for some reason your husband needs to apply for Medicaid [which is different from Medicare].

You could check with your State Medicaid office to see what programs they have. From what I have heard, spouses rarely are paid. But it would be worth a call to see what your State offers. Each State has their own rules, regulations, and programs.
