I have asked the same question regarding my mom, basically I was told she getting almost $200 too much from her pension and social security! she get $2,200 a month and her mortgage is $1,080 and she still has to buy foo,pay tel,utilities and house hold item, so I brought her with me and yes I have to dip into her money but its so she can have peace of mind,clothes,all the different foods she likes to eat(when she does eat), Its a hard job and there should be a way the goverment set up a fund for caregivers, Im in jeopardy of losing my job,because I dont have her in a daytime facility yet since I brought her to live with me, but keep checking, your states rule may be different
