My mother has cancer that has spread into her bones and is progressively getting worse each day, she does receive Medicare, but we were wondering if she could qualify for Medicaid here in the state of Texas.
Ok thank you both for your answers... my parents are on a fixed income, my dad is disabled, and my mom has cancer ... medically, the doctors have been prolonging her life through injections she has once a month, but now,... they are saying that the injections will not be of any use. (the cancer is in her bones)
I know people who get both. They don't live in Texas though. You might consult with an Elder Law attorney to see what the requirements are before you apply though. There are legal ways to protect assets. I would check that out before I applied on behalf of your mom.

Whether she qualifies for Medicaid will depend mostly on her financial situation, since it would appear she qualifies medically.
Medicare covers hospice care for people near the end of their lives. Is your mother in that situation?
