A sweet woman I took care of recently ended up having a broken clavicle. I am or was until recently a 24 hr. live in for the weekends from Friday till Monday 12:00. She has dementia and is in renal kidney disease, and othre underlying illnesess. Dialysis as well 4 times a week. The reason I'm asking because I got scared on a Sunday and she never got the dr. until Friday when I returned. She definetly was in pain. I just couln't get her to remember how she fell to get such a severe accident. She could not remember.

My MIL is in LTC with short term memory loss. She just spent 4 weeks having covid and was extremely sick. She recovered and doesn't remember a thing about it. It is not uncommon for people with cognitive decline to not be able to remember recent incidents (even profound ones) or be able to process or accurately express pain they are having. My MIL would wince in pain from a UTI and then the next second deny she is having any pain.
