I have few family members where I live. They are kind, helpful, but busy... and not too knowledgeable. I don't want to burden them when my only (and trusted) medical POA is medically informed and knows me much better.

Yes, my sister and I live in Illinois and have POA for my mother who is in MC in Florida. The POA complies with the Florida Power of Attorney Act (part II of chapter 709, Florida statutes). I have had no issues utilizing the POA for all of my Mother's needs.

Yes, I was court appointed in another state but I lived 30 miles away. I set up all online payments within a few months. I also could fill out all if the state reporting forms. The person at that time was in a locked MC so there was no worry about spending outside

I would say yes. You as the principle list what you want and don't want. The Medical POAs responsibility is to make sure ur wishes are carried out when ur incapacitated to do so. You need to ask the lawyer drawing up the POA if the assigned person can be out of state. Having Medical does not mean that person needs to care for you or has the ability to place u. That responsibility falls on the Financial POA. That person neither has to care for you. Just makes sure your OK financially.
