Twistedcanoli81, the vast majority of family who are caring for a parent do not get paid.... unless that parent can pay from their own retirement fund.

You could try checking with your State Medicaid [which is different from Medicare] to see of the parent can qualify for Medicaid. Some States have programs where they do pay a family member for care, but please note the pay is very minimal.

It depends on your state. In DE, where I live, you can't get paid for caring for a parent, however there may be other options available to you. I'd advise you to speak with a tax office first before pursuing any extra funds to care for someone. My tax office referred me to some that could help offset some of the cost, and I took her advice. EasterSeals has helped me.
