I take care of my older brother. They keep almost all of his money.

He should get one if he collects SS. Filing taxes and having direct deposit he should see it in his account. It is not considered income but for Medicaid recipients, its been said on this forum, it needs to be spent within a year. You can confirm this with his caseworker.

He gets to keep it. He is not supposed to gift it. It’s his asset so he doesn’t bust Medicaid. But he is supposed to use assets for his care like clothes or new glasses etc. not gifts to family.
