My FIL has dementia and Alzheimer's. My husband has POA. We have been in touch with attorneys and want to get him back here. FIL is very angry with my husband, says he tries to control him. My FIL overdosed on his blood thinner medication 900% in three days, he can't be living alone. We have secured a room in a beautiful assisted living center just down the road. BIL is very undependable and not financially or mentally secure.

Find Care & Housing
It might sound harsh... Your husband has POA, have him tell the BIL no. This is a matter of what is right and good for FIL, period. Also, he, BIL currently has "issues" having "dad" there will only make it worse (more work). Also, I don't know what state you are in but I would also tell BIL... Since your husband had POA he can demand an audit (of funds and care) at anytime. Does BIL really want his brother in all his business. Note: this is a slight exaggeration and over simplified statement. But we had some family drama here where I live and our attorney told us that. If he's up to no good he's not going to like that answer.

That was an incredible answer! We already were thinking the same thing but the way you worded it is perfect. We are going to contact our attorney today. Thank you so much!

Regardless of your BIL's past, your husband has POA and is legally capable/ responsible for making sure his father is cared for appropriately.

Your husband needs to go to his father's house and bring him to the assisted living place. Now.
