Is there a definitive book on the step-by-steps for getting an elderly parent certified by Medicaid for NH care?

I know planning should start more than 5 years in advance. I need to know the kinds of info to keep for the Medicaid application, how to protect assets with trusts, etc., how much to set aside for private paying a nursing home while waiting for a Medicaid bed to become available after approval, whether an elder care attorney is needed, etc.

I know nursing homes issue a comprehensive booklet about getting Medicaid assistance. Are you working with a nursing home now or do you just need information for the future? If this is the case I would Google "Medicaid" and then your state for the information you're looking for.

K.Gabriel Heiser wrote a good book. Get the latest edition because state laws change quite often. You can find it on amazon.
