My loved one died on the 18th of the month. We moved her out the same day.
I pay a flat fee of $6500 per month for board and care (plus incidentals). I texted the owner to inquire about any refund and haven't heard back. Am I owed any prorated fees?

Gogo, I was taking a short break when I answered earlier, so please forgive my inconsiderate forgetfulness.

I am so sorry for your loss. May The Lord give you peace, comfort and strength to deal with this new season in your life.

I would put the request in writing with a copy of the agreement with the refund if prorated pmt highlighted.

May the facility honor their agreement without a fight.

Oh my totally forgot about the Admission Agreement. Since her death is so fresh, mind isn't working at full throttle.
So Yes, in her case, because she was on Hospice Care within the Board and Care, she will receive a prorated refund for the days after we removed her personal effects.
Thank you ! for the helpful comments.

Read the contract. My mom's nursing home did refund the money for the rest of the month even though she died on the 26th of the month. It was $1500, so I was glad to get that money back.

Nope.

I bet if you read the admission paperwork this was covered.
