Routine is suggested. Soft lights, soothing music. If he relaxes and doesn't fight it, a warm bath. Some warm milk if he likes it. All the "normal" stuff. But sleeplessness is a problem with Alzheimer's at many stages and tends to get worse (and wears out the caregiver). Please see if the doctor has any safe remedies. This backward clock thing causes many caregivers to get ill themselves as they never get rest.

If all else fails, hiring someone to watch him while you sleep may become necessary.
