My father is being discharged from hospice. He has night time urine incontinence. We probably use about 4 pads a day. Hospice had been supplying them. Any idea where to find the best for price and most absorbant?
amazon ! I buy diapers, chux for wheelchair and bed, foam remedy cleanser, bath wipes, baby wipes, booster pads, nightgowns, etc. They have everything and I get a bunch every 2 months of it all. I get about 150 of each disposible pads, great deals. Walmart has stuff online also.

When I did the parents, I used the blanket as a lifter, placed right above the bed sheet. Then I put the washable bed pad on top. When mom had diarrhea, I would put the long disposable liner on top of the washable pad. So glad I did.
FYI, I learned from some posters here that it's much cheaper to buy puppy pads instead of the real adult liners/pads. It is cheaper. Here, it's $7.00 for 10 pieces of adult liners. I go to Kmart, and the puppy pads are $15.00 for 32 pieces. I hear that when it goes on sale in the states, it's a real bargain...like $6.00 some a package. I use these puppy liners when changing pampers. If I see that father has watery poop, then I use the adult liners - only because it's longer.
I also use the puppy liners as a "table mat/cover" for dad's end table. He keeps spilling his water onto the table or knocking down the cup. Then it would spill onto the floor. So, now with the pad as a mat, the water stays on the table, and I just change the soaking wet liner every night. And also in the mornings, because he spilled more water during the night.
That's a steal - $5.00 per washable pad. I have to find a seller willing to send international. By the time I order the 3 waterproof bed pads, the total cost is about $40.00.($25.00 bedpads + $15 shipping) To buy just one pad here on island is $20.00! So, I order it online. ..... Wow, $5.00+ each.... Wondermomma, you want to be my best friend? =)
Sandy, I buy tranquility Boosters on amazon or north shore medical. These do not have a plastic backing on them like a regular pad which deflects the urine outward. These go in the diaper and soak through it into the diaper. Hospice's diapers are so thin I wouldnt use them on a doll, haha! Go to amazon and type in Booster pads/ tranquility. They also sell disposible pads that you can read reviews on to make a choice. Good luck
Aside from being sturdier and washable (in the long run saving you a lot), they also provide a nice grip when you need to turn him in bed (much easier to grab the edges of the pad, and lift/turn them, especially when they're dead weight.
Vinegar is also a great way to neutralize the smells, then a bit of bleach in the wash (careful not to use too much, or the pads will break down more quickly .. had to learn that the hard way, loll)
I bought the incontinence waterproof bed pads from vitality medical supply online. They are about $5+ each, and are soft, quilted material on top with a waterproof backing, just lay one down on the bottom sheet every night. They work really well, and are washable. Saves a lot of money! We first used the disposable chuck pads, but if your person rolls around in bed alot, those move and get scrunched up and sometimes leak (just because they don't stay in place). The reusable bed pads are quilted cotton with a waterproof backing, about 36" square, absorb a lot of liquid, and are your best bet.....you should probably buy about 6 of them to have a few extras on hand. They ship in a few days. We also use a product called Odoban that we get by the gallon from Sam's Caub for about $10, and put a cup of that in with your laundry...everything stays smelling fresh!
