What is best cost for hospital bed?

We have always gotten and given hospital beds when needed from 'lending aids'. The recycle yards are full of discarded walkers--hospitals order new ones for all. Hospital beds have wet proof mattresses.

Talk to the rental company, Sometimes after a year of rental, they will let you buy it outright for practically nothing. For MIL, we bought a new one online from progressmobility, full electric, free shipping for $863. You will need a handy person to assemble it. MIL loves hers, took it to ALF with her.

I didn't know about the deductibles until last year. My mom's nutrient drink. It was a January when I came in to pick it up and found out she now needs to pay 100% until she met the deductibles. But it wasn't really much. I don't think it was over $200. I just don't go around carrying that amount. Hospital bed makes such a big difference.

That is a shame. I'm sure he hasn't met his deductible this year but he would have if this was happening back in December.

Medicare will cover it if the prescription is done by a Medicare approved physician. If you already paid of your deductions for this year, then Medicare usually covers 80%. If you have a secondary insurance that covers hospital beds, then that secondary insurance will pay the 20%. If you don't have a secondary insurance or it won't pay the 20% because it's not covered, then you will end up paying for it.

How much is the cost? Depends where you buy it. Shop around if you can. And it's very very important that where you purchase it, is an approved place by Medicare. Medicare may cover 80% but if you buy the hospital bed from a company not approved by Medicare, you will be stuck with the cost 100%. (I found out just recently that this also applies for doctors! I now have to make sure that when father goes to the clinic, he must see a Medicare-approved doctor.)
