Also needs to be in SNF and won't go. This is the straw that broke the camel's back. She's been home just over a week and the home care company didn't even show up. They were supposed to come today and it's 5pm on Saturday. Still no call so I can't even turn to them. My husband sprayed her chair multiple times and it seems they are finally gone. But when I read up on others who had this problem they talk about looking in picture frames. She's is a handful already and should be in a SNF but refuses. I, her daughter am about to have one broken ankle and foot I walked on amputated and my husband broke vertebrae in his back and suffers depression since surgeries onmy other leg took 7 years and I was total care. Now I'm getting better, mother and husband getting worse, my brother won't lift a finger to help and I can't afford exterminator. What do I do about making sure bugs are gone and about getting her to realize or getting cheaper help so I stop neglecting myself and husband??? HELP!!!

Find Care & Housing
Your mother sleeps in a bed at night. If the bugs are around they will show in the bed. Take off the sheets and look under the seams along the side. Little dots of black are likely bedbug dirt. They can be ANYWHERE, including in carpets, and especially under baseboards. You will be getting bites if they are still around. Some of you or all or you.
It seems as though there is a lot of chaos and that you Mother may need placement soon. Don't try to address everything on one day. First things first.

My mother stays in her recliner all day, all night. I am at the end of my surgeries and being held back by having to take on all the burden of her issues, my husband's and my issues. We don't see ANYONE anymore after these past 7 years of my surgeries, my father's death, my mother becoming I'll, my husband being depressed for all these years and just now seeking treatment and not following through. Leaving the house a wreck. He doesn't take care of the inside or out without me begging for weeks. He does minimal with my mother but at least he does. He was full time caregiver for me during my surgeries which have been over with for 3 years but I still have the other broken leg. My brother doesn't, just say my brother doesn't exist and then you've got me. No one cares because they know I always pick up the pieces somehow. Not this time. But since this is a caregiving site I wanted to find out about the bugs because my husband sprayed her chair and I'm left with continuing to take care of her do the piles of laundry since the bugs, make the outside of the house look decent, it's so bad it embarrassing but no one cares now I guess is what I'm saying. At first it was my brother now my husband. I don't know what else to do but call social services and break my mother's heart. I won't forgive my brother ever and I m becoming very disturbed with my husband that lives here in her home, has become I'll but not as I'll as he acts I don't think and my mother who orders me around. Where do I get time off or any help? If not from my husband the only one left what do I do???? The frickin home care company hasn't been here in over a week since she's been home.

Never had bedbugs but if they are in her chair, they are probably i her bed. The clothes she brought home suitcase. Not sure if its a job that u can do yourself to get rid of them. I think it is hard. Did you inform the facility? I would also inform the health dept in your county. May the HD can tell u how to get rid of them.

Does Mom suffer from Dementia? Right there is a good reason for LTC. It no longer is her choice but what she needs. From your post, you will not be able to care for her. Who is going to care for her while you are healing? Maybe u can get her in a NH by telling her its just till u heal. Then u tell her you have found that you cannot care for her.

Who set up the homecare? If Discharge at the facility call and ask if they ever put in for it. If not Discharge, have you called the in home?

No matter the cost ,get a company that specializes in bedbugs. Don’t go with cheap ( previous experience). Truthfully this is something you need help with.

Brother and sister brought bed bugs into MoMA's apartment in assisted living. I cleaned it up for seven months using an exterminator. After spending a little over $7000.00 in paying the exterminator and purchasing new couch, sheets and ect ect I finally got rid of them. Considering this was a medical issue and I have medical and financial I banned brother, his wife, sister, neice and her husband from the facility and we don't have them anymore. Oh also the dog!!
