How can I assure mom that dad didn't throw her away?

Mom thinks she should be there at home and he care for her, but he can't as he is also 83. Mom is living with me (daughter), she believes he wants a divorce, but this is not true. We are bringing her bedroom furniture here to a downstairs room for her comfort, ease of access and familiarity, who knew that would open a can of worms...

It's time for a bit of therapeutic fibbing. "Mom, you're just staying with us until Dad feels better." (or until the a/c is fixed, or until the termite people are finished, etc.)
