My father, 75 years old, has only medicare and was informed by his ENT doctor that he needs hearing aid. Medicare doesn't cover the hearing aids. We went to a few places and the equipment cost $2,000 and up. We are on limited income and his social security is only about $650/month. I don't want to yell everytime I talk to him. Please help.

Consider using a personal amplifier. The Pocketalker is only $119.00 and I have seen people use it in place of their hearing aids. As people get older they tend to misplace or don't have the dexterity to control the settings or change the batteries. I would be glad to help in any way that I can. This unit is just one of many options but it will give about 52dB of amplification for conversations.

Lions Club has a program by which it provides very reasonably priced hearing aids ($300 per ear) for income qualified people. Income for a 1 person family is limited to $21,780, for a 2 person family, $29,420. _0o9a
