Can anyone help me find resources for assistance with assisted living? The PA medical assistance program has denied assistance based on Social Security income. Are there other resources out there in PA?

What I get from Barbs info that there is a way that you can divert extra SS to a trust that reverts back to Medicaid when the person passes. I also get from the article that to get help thru Medicaid for an AL that u need to be receiving SSI. But I may have read that wrong.

Assisted livings are usually private pay. In NJ, you have to pay privately for at least two years before Medicaid will pay. And that depends on if the facility hasn't already hit the % of residents they allow Medicaid to foot the bill.
