Find Care & Housing
Oh, my gosh. Helpful? More like a Godsend.

It cost, $60 a day...$55 if no lunch was needed. Included an afternoon snack. It was available from 730 AM 'til closing at 5 PM. (if I remember correctly). Mom had an opportunity to socialize and be greeted and treated to the smiling, welcoming faces of staff. We sent her once a week.

Both mom AND I enjoyed it immensely. Wish we'd started doing it sooner.

Started Mom in an Adult Day Center in June. The cost is $50.00 for 4 hours and she goes once a week every Tuesday. It's been very positive. She is enjoying it, although she was reluctant to go at first. The staff are great and it allows her more socialization. It has allowed me time to get things done ie shopping, house cleaning etc without having to take Mom. It's amazing how much I can get done when on my own. Now that I've caught up on some of the need to do tasks I find myself spending those four hours just relaxing and it's wonderful.
I also wish we would have started the Adult Day Center sooner.

Took my husband (since he did not know where he was going) to adult day care once. He liked it, but would not go back saying he likes staying at home. The Day Center was wonderful. Greeted with smiles, acceptance and hospitality. Cost $70 a day from 7am to 5pm. Extremely well organized. Included lunch, in-between snacks, activity games, light exercise programs, posted menu's and television and board games. Also, has an enclosed outdoor patio with lots of flowers, shrubs and a garden. Guests can sit, read, enjoy the sun in peace and quiet. Love it. But, hubby does not like to go anywhere and even with strong insistence from his doctors to give me a break, nope, nothing...he will not budge. I can only evaluate the adult day center near me---it is superb and very affordable. If I had dementia or Alzheimer's, I would love spending time there! I would like to point out before closing, the day care center is ran more efficiently than the $3,000 to $5,000 a month assisted living homes I visited! Yes, I would take a loved one to day care in a heartbeat!

My sister attends adult day care. She thinks she is going to work. We let her think that.

My husband went 2 days a week in the summer and 3 in the winter. It was awesome. I can't recommend it enough.
