I hope you have better experience with the medical alert system than Brandywine's Mom. Perhaps it depends on stage of dementia a person is in when they get it? With few exceptions, up untill Mom's dementia got bad, my Mom wore the bracelet 24/7 (waterproof), and it was well worth the montthly fee (at that time about $30) from the first time she used it. She only needed to use it 3 or 4 times as I recall. Thank God she had the presence of mind to remember what it was for.

My mother had Lifeline. It was based in Boston. It was what the hospital recommended. She never did use it. She didn't understand it and left it on the top of the dresser most of the time. It was supposed to be worn as a necklace. It cost about $35 per month.

Yes, I don't know if you are in the U.S. or Canada but in Canada we have LifeCall and just like orangeblossom said they provide a choice of necklace or bracelet.

My Mom had the Life Station medical alert system and it came with a choice of necklace or bracelet components. Maybe check the box for your system and see if a wristband attachment is in it? I liked the Life Station program as it was direct to the company - no outsourcing for respondents. Very reasonable monthly fee.
