I heard that if a patient is on hospice Medicaid will give more caregiver hours? Is this true ,,I know it’s the weekend but I’m trying to figure out what to do with Mom ,,I guess long term care beds are very hard to find and I’m not sure what to do ...I’m sorry I’m having a rough time ,,Mom was declined for rehab because she just can’t do it ..the hospice she is going to has inpatient but it’s only for 5 days ..I,work as a RN but I know nothing about long and I tore my hamstring so I am basically stuck at home with my bum on ice so,I,can’t even get there ..i want Mom to come home but I worry I cannot take care of her .im. It sure even what to do ..thank you for listening.

Medicaid s administered by different states in different ways. I would imagine that Medicaid would have a hospice program in some states. Check your state's Medicaid website.

Hospice is a Medicare program, not Medicaid. If she's Medicaid qualified (indigent) and unable to care for herself, then she should be in a care facility (but maybe not nearby). Otherwise, maybe the family can chip in for some private caregivers for a few more hours a week.
