Sometimes it literally seems like mom has "looping" seizures. It seems sometimes like she is stuck in a thought and can't get out. We are also hoping that this medication will help calm her anxiety and aggressive behaviours.

It should control the seizures. It's important to know what else she is on. Even something as simple as aspirin can block other medications.
For my sister, seizure meds are given one hour ahead of any other meds, including vitamins, BP meds etc to avoid drug interactions.
If it is given twice a day, be sure the doses are 12 hrs apart, no more, no less.
