We give a real grand time to my grandma, who's 87 with dementia.

We cheer her up. We make the funniest comedies, skits, and plays. We dress up like nuts. We make her laugh and forget about everything. We dance around her, singing her favorite French songs, and songs we composed saying how much we love her. She claps with her hands and sometimes sings along [when she can retrieve the words.]

No matter how old and declined she is, she still loves to look pretty. So jewelry and new clothing keeps her occupied too.

We also look at Photo albums together. Be it recent or very old ones. We tell her stories about her life [which she use to tell us when she was still able to] which is quite entertaining cuz she's a holocaust survivor.

We make parties quite often. She lights up. She might sometimes be very angry and nervous, but we don't take it personally, we know it's not her, it's her dementia. we just continue to try to cheer her up till we see a smile on her face.

They have things on Amazon called fidget blankets. Think of them like those fisher price all in one baby activity things of the early 70s, but actually stitched with felt onto a blanket.

Another thing might be getting her a stuffed animal or doll. There are more realistic ones for dementia.
